THE AVIATION PAGE

Having been an Army aviator since 1979, I have added this page for those interested in aviation.  I know that it really doesn't have any thing to do with Military Warehouse or our products but I wanted to share my interest in aviation with those visiting our site.

In a way the aviation community has two sub communities that are much like those in the reenacting community.  Those are the Air Show community, from aerobatic flyers to those displaying classic planes of yesterday, and the Fly In community.  Air shows have the same atmosphere as a large national reenactment event, you see things there you will see no where else and you can share that experience with others of the same interest while members of the public can see what it is all about.  Fly-ins are much like smaller events, groups of people with similar planes and interests gathering several times a year to swap stories and share information.  Very much like those events where you see good friends once or twice a year but good friends none the less.

I have provided several links here from military aviation sites to museums.  I hope you will enjoy this page and if you are interested in aviation or a pilot please feel free to contact us, we would love to hear from you.

If you have a site you would like added to this page please let us know.

Recent change to the page I have replaced the Rolls Royce Merlin with an Allison from a P40 fly by.

Roscoe Turner - The man who flew with a lion.  Namesake of the Corinth, MS airport.

The plane used by Roscoe Turner for his unprecedented third win in the Thompson Trophy Race with a speed of 282.5 mph.   Doesn't seem fast now but in 1939 they didn't get much faster.  Aircraft is now part of the National Aeronautical Collection at the Smithsonian.

"I have often said that the lure of flying is the lure of beauty. That the reasons flyers fly, whether they know it or not, is the aesthetic appeal of flying."

Amelia Earhart

Personal Note:

I am always interested in photos, manuals or other memorabilia regarding North American NA16, T-6 Texan and SNJ type aircraft.  If you have any of this material you would like to trade or sell please contact me.

They just don't make them like they used to.  By the way, that's me in the front seat.

Thanks for dropping by!
